INTERNATIONAL SUCCESS...
Having worked up through the ranks of the British Eventing world, in 2007 Kathy was spotted as a possible contender to ride for Team G.B. She attended the training clinics and was shortlisted for the team, when 6 weeks before the departure date, Kathy suffered an horrific accident where she broke her neck. Kathy was airlifted to hospital and following extensive treatment, made a spectacular recovery and returned to form several months later. However, due to the length of recovery time, Kathy missed her chance to represent her Country.
However, all was not lost and in 2009 along with 150 other possible candidates, Kathy was once again chosen by British Team selectors to attend assessment clinics where hopeful contenders would, over the following months be whittled down to a short list of 15 riders. Kathy made it through to the final 6 and was chosen to ride in the team for Great Britain at the CIC** in Hungary.
This was a gruelling couple of weeks, Kathy's mare Algina T spent 4 days travelling across Europe with her Co owner Charlotte Gower, and the other team horses to find on arrival that their accomadation was still under construction! This did not deter the British Team who secured the Bronze medal. This was a fantastic result for the Brits who have not won a medal in the last 9 years at this event. The competition was extremely hot, with only 4 points between the top 3 teams!!!
